Josiah Duggar and Marjorie Jackson, who have been in a courtship for the past four months just announced that they have severed their ties which they believe is “the Lord’s will”. Although he no longer courts Marjorie, Josiah’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar supported his decision to enter into a relationship with marriage on his mind. According to a news report shared by People on August 5, they have ended their courtship after just a few months.
No one in the family is sharing the specific reasons why the couple made their decision to call it quits. Curious minds are inquiring about why Josiah and Marjorie, who they thought were such a cute couple and seemed so happy together just ended their relationship that looked like it would lead to a future Duggar marriage. Some fans are speculating that the downward spiral of the Duggar scandals that have been in the news of late may have had a stressful bearing upon their own relationship.
Others may be thinking that it was possible something else went wrong with their courtship or most likely they decided they just weren’t the best match for each other and wanted to take matters into their own hands before too much time passed which could have made separating much harder on the two young teenagers. In a statement posted to Facebook, the Duggar family said both Josiah and Marjorie “have enjoyed getting to know each other and to build their friendship over the past months.
Fans were upset, not only was their favorite show, “19 Kids and Counting” cancelled by TLC, Josh being tormented from every angle in the media, negative feedback from the public arena over the Duggar family’s requests for donations and now the split between Marjorie and Josiah. It has been a hard time for the family, their close friends, viewers and fans during these past four months. A few people may have thought something was amiss since Josiah discontinued posts to his Instagram page three months ago.
It seems it is sort of a tradition for the Duggars to post photos of their courtship relationships on the social media site to keep fans abreast of their ongoing commitment to each other. Josiah followed suit and then suddenly stopped once the media got wind of the evidence against his brother, Josh. That may be the reason behind his lack of posting, and only that. No one appears to have seen Marjorie and Josiah together for the past three months either. What is happening in Josh’s life has no bearing upon the decisions of Josiah and Marjorie, they ended their courtship on their own merits and it is in fact, over.
“Courtship is like dating with a purpose,” Marjorie explained. “It’s getting to know each other better in group settings, along with our families and just really asking those tough questions and getting to spend more time together along with family and friends.” The statement also revealed that the two families will also continue to be close friends; “A few weeks ago Marjorie and Josiah agreed to end their courtship, keeping in step with what they believe the Lord’s will is,” they wrote. “Both are thankful for the time getting to know each other and their families continue to enjoy each other’s company and close friendship. As parents, we are very pleased to see two young people searching out their futures with God’s will as their first priority!”
Other thoughts have been heard saying it is possible that the two young teens may just be putting things off temporarily. That there could be a possibility down the road these two may rethink their relationship and are only taking a break from each other and the limelight that is shining upon the family in so many different angles. The Duggar family takes the act of courting very seriously. Not all relationships are meant to be. Whatever the real reason behind the break-up is we’re sure Josiah and Marjorie will always remain friends and we with them both luck and much happiness in their futures with whomever they choose for their future life-time partners.
