Josh Duggar jumped onto the family blog today to offer a hasty apology over the Ashley Madison mess and he blames his actions on allowing Satan “to build a fortress” in his heart that no one knew about. Meanwhile his parents, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar wrote an introduction for Josh’s apology, sharing how they were heartbroken over hearing this news. They also asked folks to read what their son had to say.
The Ashley Madison hackers kept their promise to release millions of names of Ashley Madison clients and one name that stood out above the rest so far is Josh Duggar The information released indicated that this Duggar son had not only had one, but two accounts with the website. The Ashley Madison website not only promotes extramarital affairs, it also plays a major part in providing the venue for hookups.
According to WNEP News on August 20, the two accounts had addresses associated with Josh that lead back to Duggar homes. One was his grandmother’s address in Fayetteville, Arkansas and the other account had his own Washington D.C. address.
Josh writes on The Duggar Family website:
“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.
I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.
I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust.
The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, in my heart I had allowed Satan to build a fortress that no one knew about.
As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose to our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example.
I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.” He signed this “Josh Duggar.”
It was the website Gawker who first reported Josh Duggar’s name among the millions of names revealed. The Gawker reports that Josh “paid a total of $986.76 for two different monthly Ashley Madison subscriptions from February of 2013 until May of 2015.” This does not look good for the married man and father.
Fox News Local 8 reports today that Josh had two different monthly Ashley Madison subscriptions from February of 2013 until May of 2015. But he is apologizing for this today, leaving many to wonder if his secret life has any more avenues that just haven’t been revealed yet.
This Ashley Madison scandal was revealed by other sources, so it wasn’t if Josh came out to confess these actions on his own. He was prompted by the reveals to address his short comings and offer an apology.
According to his Ashley Madison account, he was looking for someone who liked to “experiment with sex toys” and who was “open to one night stands.” He listed his turn-on as the “girl next door” type and someone with a “take charge nature.”
The Duggar family lost their reality show “19 Kids and Counting” after Josh’s last scandal. This was due to Josh’s sexual assaults bubbling to the surface, but some of the finger pointing was directed at the parents for allegedly covering up these assaults.
This is another big blow for the family members of Josh, who have their feet cemented in living life according to their staunch religious beliefs. Being affiliated with Ashley Madison would definitely not fall under their ideals for their religious lifestyle.
