With unemployment down across the country veterans who have served still are having difficulty finding work according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Historically Veterans have statically been one among the highest groups experiencing unemployment and experience homelessness at a higher rate. As a result local organizations in Central Florida are pulling together a job fair targeting veterans.
The Central Florida Citrus Bowl will be the location for the Veteran’s Job Fair on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. The event will take place from 10AM to 2PM (EDT) at 1 Citrus Bowl Place, West Concourse, Orlando, FL 32805 and will feature both local and national employers seeking to hire Veterans. The Orlando VA Medical Center in partnership with OrlandoJobs.com and sponsored by Orlando Health, Job Path, Suntrust and several other Veterans advocate organizations will be hosting this job fair.
The event will include on site job interviews and hiring of qualified candidates. The job fair is expected to offer 600 state, federal, and local jobs. Homeless Veterans and Veterans with background challenges are highly encouraged to attend.
For Veterans preparation is the key to success when attending any job fair. Recruiters appreciate candidates who have taken the time to understand their company and the jobs available before they show up at a job fair.
In August the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity reported the state unemployment rate at 5.3% which is slightly higher than the national unemployment rate at 5.1%.
