It is well known that the Duggar family reality stars were heartbroken when news hit the airways when TLC cancelled their hit TV show, “19 Kids and Counting”. Word since then has been aired that Jim Bob and Michelle are not ready to give up the limelight, the celebrity status and truly wants to air a show on television once again. Jim Bob did put a damper on the spin-off that was being discussed with the networks that would have aired only the lives of Jill and Jessa along with their husbands and children. Now Jim Bob and Michelle have been pitching a new show idea that they hope will be accepted by the network’s bringing them back to everyone’s television screen on a weekly basis once again.
The new show idea they are hoping to promote and get accepted, it would center their focus on counseling victims of sexual abuse. They are hoping that after the one hour special TLC has planned this upcoming August that will prominently feature Jessa and Jill as victims of child abuse will be just the ticket to convince the networks to go along with their television show idea. Although this is a great idea that would bring awareness to all the people who have and are suffering and been victims of one form of child or sexual abuse, it may be too late in the running and a hard sell to a network.
When the media got word that their son, Josh had committed acts that were forms of child sexual abuse they still sounded like they were in denial even after having interviews that were publicized. During their talks many believed they were making excuses for the past acts and didn’t do as much for those they needed to be concerned for as they could have. Others were quite upset that no real punishment was ever put into play for Josh to learn from his past actions or make him responsible for the crimes he committed as a young teenager.
The reactions from Jim Bob, Michelle, Jessa and Jill were very similar and some statements were nearly word for word when the same questions were asked of them. Shrugging off the importance of these incidents and making excuses for Josh was a disastrous move on their part when they agreed to the live interviews to discuss the reasons behind the scandal that broke out in hope to contain that can of worms that they put in their past. Their denials, excuses and nonchalant attitudes more than likely was the last straw that was needed to break ties with TLC that lead to making the cancellation of the show really final. People may forgive, but there are many that don’t forget. This might be a stepping stone that can cause some problems with their new television show idea taking off.
They feel that the theme of their new show idea will be an encouragement to others and are excited about the thought of once again regaining the trust and followers they had with a new family show as they did with “19 Kids and Counting”. Do you think the Duggars deserve a second chance at a new reality television show, to regain their celebrity reality fame status or that they should be denied this new show idea and kept off the airwaves of major networks leaving them to promote themselves in other avenues that will connect with their most devoted fans?
