Josh Duggar destroyed trust when he molested Jill and Jessa Duggar. According to USA Today, June 6, 2015, Josh overstepped the boundary and his two sisters are speaking out about their experience. The girls talked about the day that their parents, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, sat them down to talk about what happened. They issued a warning to Jessa and Jill. They told them not to trust Josh again. Jim Bob told them that there was a “difference between forgiveness and trust.” They should forgive, but Josh had to earn their trust. Jessa said that at first she was shocked, while Jill admitted she was scared. Jim Bob sent Josh away for about three months. When he returned, Jill said that Josh had to start rebuilding their broken trust. Josh’s return marked changes in the family. Locks were put on all the bedrooms. When the kids played together, Josh could not be left alone with the girls. No more hide and seek where two kids find a place to hide together. Jessa Duggar Seewals said in an interview on “The Kelly File” with Megyn Kelly, “I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or pedophile or a rapist, some people are saying. I’m like, ‘That is so overboard and a lie really.’ I mean, people get mad at me for saying that, but I can say this because I was one of the victims.”
When the news broke about Josh molesting five young girls, TLC cancelled “19 Kids and Counting” removing the series off their channel. Even though the show may be over, Jill and Jessa aren’t bothered by it, Radar Online reported. They believe their show was just a window that God opened. He allowed their family to be on TV for a time so they could lead others to God. However, Jill, Jessa, their husbands and children have a spin-off show in the makings. However, since the news hit about Josh Duggar, TLC may end up cancelling it before it airs on TV.
Instead of telling the authorities, Jim Bob confided in the church elders. Josh’s parents sent him to stay with one of their friends. About one year later, Jim Bob told state trooper Joseph T. Hutchens what Josh had done. Joseph is allegedly a friend of Jim Bob’s, and strangely, he never filed the documents. Apparently, when the police were alerted again about Josh molesting young girls, it was after the statute of limitations expired and no criminal action could take place.
