Country music producer Dave Brainard and an associate, Deborah DeLoach, were viciously attacked on a Nashville street early Sunday morning. The two victims were walking with another female friend, just down the street from Dave Brainard’s music studio when a couple in a gray Infinity began driving toward them.
After striking one of the pedestrians, the couple charged from the vehicle and proceeded to beat Brainard and DeLoach. Brainard was repeatedly struck and choked by the male driver, while DeLoach was attacked by the female. By the time the couple fled, Brainard was left unconscious with severe injuries to his face.
Brainard underwent reconstructive surgery on Tuesday after having both sides of his jaw broken, shattered teeth, and several lacerations on his face. The Tennessean reports that Dave Brainard made it through surgery and was in good spirits, according to his publicist.
Dave Brainard is known for producing Jerrod Niemann’s albums “Judge Jerrod & the Hung Jury” and “Free the Music,” which featured the hit songs “Lover, Lover,” “One More Drinkin’ Song,” and “Shinin’ On Me.”
The cause of the attack on Dave Brainard is unknown, but police are looking for a white man, standing 6′ 2″ and weighing around 200 pounds and a white woman, 5′ 6″ tall and appearing to be in her early 30s. The assailants were wearing formal attire at the time of the attack. Anyone with information is urged to call the Nashville police at 615-742-7463.
