“Hold onto me” lyrics found in the For King and Country hit “Busted Hearts” by the Christian pop-rock band may be about needing God in the midst of trouble, but the lyrics also seems to be just what the doctor ordered in the celebrity breakup of Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner. On Saturday the couple were reportedly in Georgia and both were still sporting their wedding rings, according to a July 25 Jared report. And photos published on Sunday, July 26 captured of the couple and their children hint at a possible reconciliation as well. The fact that Jennifer’s new Christian movie is titled Miracles from Heaven, and that she is filming it in a state that believes in martial bliss and “to death we do part,” makes the prospect of reconciliation seem possible. All the more when one considers that Ben is in town, too, at the same time.
People magazine reported that a source close to the couple told them that the celebrity couple are continuing to wear their wedding rings to aid their three children in coping with their divorce decision, which was announced to the press last month. The magazine also reported that Ben is in Atlanta in order to visit with their three children during Jennifer’s movie filming, but he is flying to Atlanta between work commitments elsewhere–not staying indefinitely.
They just want them to be okay,” the source told People.
Last week Us magazine reported that the couple had moved out of their home and rented the down-the-street home of Brook Shields, who had placed her home up for sale. Ben and Jennifer plan to live together in their home in California, but they needed renovation work done a source said, in order to accommodate their separate living quarters needed on the heels of their divorce announcement, since they intend to co-parent their three children: Violet, age 9, Seraphina, age 6, and Sam, their only son, age 3. A source reported:
They definitely play happy family in front of the kids.”
Divorce is an ugly business, but celebrity couple Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck seem to be trying to spare their children the same things other children experience in the aftermath of a Hollywood family breakup, even going so far as to continue to reside together and continue to attend family outings together–at least for the immediate future. But photos of the two and the children together this past weekend in Georgia seem to also show the strain is getting to Ben and Jen, especially him. Hopefully, these two lovely people can heal their relationship and truly remain a committed, loving and forgiving family, for all their sakes, not just for the children. And the music hit “Busted Hearts” from the For King and Country duo is a great song to help them do that.
