As an actor, versatility is certainly a word to aptly describe Jamie Foxx, his 2004 portrayal of Ray Charles in “Ray “garnished him recognition with an Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actor along with the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musical or comedy. He has turned up the heat as as mega-villain when he played Electro in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (2014) and for those old enough to remember, Foxx made us look at life with a smile when he starred in “In Living Color” as well as his carrying his own show from 1996 to 2001, “The Jamie Foxx Show”.
This weekend he continued his A-List projects as he helped to celebrate the first anniversary of SLS Las Vegas with an off the charts show nothing short of a concert at Foxtail Pool. The dynamic singer got the celebration going with his dynamic vocals as well as an exclusive presence on the red carpet where he graciously took time for more than few photos and expressed his genuine excitement about hosting the party. Just about 9 p.m., the real magic began as he made his way to the stage wishing SLS a “happy anniversary.” Partygoers took this a their cue and the crowed was immediately whipped into a frenzy as Foxx crooned and “kicked it” belting out a series of well known hip-hop favorites, including “Blame It,” “Just Like Me,” “Unpredictable,” “Gold Digger,” “Birthday Song,” and “Slow Jams”.
Throughout the performance, he worked the crowed with his own form of magic and even plucked a lucky fan from the masses to join him on the stage. After his set, Foxx was presented with a commemorative birthday cake to officially mark the property’s significant milestone. Later, UFC Champion Conor McGregor also joined him and both were in full celebration mode as they enjoyed the evening in his VIP cabana.
Later that night, Foxx hosted a special after party at The Sayers Club, where he took the opportunity to again perform, this time alongside the Sayers Sessions band for nearly an hour, playing the drums to hip-hop favorites “Pony” by Ginuwine and “Nice and Slow” by Usher. Grammy award-winning songwriter and record producer Bryan-Michael Cox and hip-hop legend Ja Rule were also enjoying the festivities until the early morning hours.
Earlier in the day, dance music’s super-hot female duo NERVO was more than a hint of things to come as they kicked off this anniversary party with a high octane performance of ‘Haute Mess’ at Foxtail Pool, where the ubiquitous Ja Rule spent time enjoying all the day had to offer in his VIP cabana. NERVO will return to SLS Las Vegas for Labor Day Weekend on Monday, Sept. 7.
