The summer of 2015 is soon coming to an end, so why not take advantage of our beach front night clubs and music venues while you still can. Massachusetts offers a beautiful sea coast from Hull, all along the north and south shore, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. It’s the perfect place to watch live music when you can look out over the ocean.
First stop this weekend, the Red Parrott on Nantasket Beach in Hull on Friday, August 28. The Cornerstone Band, with Jackson Whetherbee on vocals, Johnny Alves on guitar, Nicholas Asta on drums, Mark King on bass, and Myles Sweeney on keyboards, will be playing their funky reggae sound at the Red Parrott. This band is a relatively new band out of Boston and yet they have already played music festival’s in the Carribbean and opened for the band, Kool and the Gang. Get ready for the Salem Willows Country Fest which runs all weekend from Friday, August 28 – Sunday, August 30, at 187 Fort Ave in Salem. It will be a weekend of beers, brews and BBQ and a stellar line up of well known country bands. There’s free admission from 12 – 4 p.m. with music beginning at noon on Friday with Sam Libby, followed by the Darren Bessette Band and the Houston Bernard Band at 7 p.m. The Saturday music line up starts at noon with the Tim Charron Band, followed by Caroline Gray, Line Dancing, Thirty 6 Red and ending the day, The Southern Drawl Band from 7 – 10 p.m. Sunday, it’s the Jandee Lee Porter Band, Line Dancing and Brandon LePere. On Saturday, August 29, Johnny A, a Boston legendary guitarist, will be at Firefly’s, 350 East Main Street in Marlborough, with Bill Claire opening the evening’s music. The latest on Johnny A is that he has become a Yardbird and will tour in October with founding member and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jim McCarty, bassist Kenny Aaronson (Bob Dylan, Billy Idol), Myke Scavone (Ram Jam & Doughboys), guitarist/singer John Idan. Eric Savoie and the Throwdown Band will bring the blues to Pete’s Bar and Grill, 540 South Street in Quincy on Saturday, August 30. This band came on the Boston music scene in 2009 and have since won the 2013 Boston Blues Society’s Blues Challenge and were Semi-finalists at The International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
