For those of you who are horse enthusiasts, there is an upcoming event that is a must-see. You do not want to miss the 50th Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic taking place Thursday, July 2 through Sunday, July 12 in Moreland Hills, Ohio that will culminate with the $50,000 Cleveland Grand Prix.
Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic Featuring three rings of daily Hunter and Jumper equine competitions, the Chagrin Valley Hunter and Jumper Classic (taking place at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field) is one of the top charity horse shows in the United States for leading national riders and top local talent.
This 11-day event also includes live musical entertainment (including the Karma Kings and The Moxies), boutique shopping and lots of food (provided by a variety of Cleveland food trucks).
Other activities include a Puppy Grand Prix (July 3), a Riders with Disabilities Horse Show (July 6), a Casino Night benefitting Chagrin Valley Trails & Riding and CVPHA (July 9), Horse & Hound Relay (July 10), Cleveland Clinic Children’s Family Day (July 11), a Classic Automobile Show (July 12) and various horse-related clinics with topics like “Alternative Medicine & Healing for Your Horse”.
The event will also feature a Cleveland Grand Prix Parade & Festivities on Sunday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m.
Two of the major competitions take place on Sunday, July 12 — the $5000 USHJA National Hunter Derby (at 9 a.m.) and the highlight of the Classic event — the $50,000 Cleveland Grand Prix (at 2:30 p.m.).
A Bit of History about the Cleveland Grand Prix Debuting at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in 1965, the Cleveland Grand Prix was the first show- jumping grand prix in the United States.
Hours for the Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic start at 8 a.m. daily during the event. Admission is free Thursday, July 2 through Thursday, July 9. Admission on Friday, July 10 is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and youth (12 and under). Admission on Saturday, July 11 is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors. All youth 16 and under are free. Admission on Sunday, July 12 is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and youth (12 and under).
