Valerie Harper was found unconscious backstage at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine. She was transported to the hospital in York, Maine. Various news outlets have different stories. Time, July 30, 2015, reported that Valarie has been released from the hospital. ET reported that she is in a coma. At approximately 8:56 p.m., the fire department arrived to find Valerie unconscious. Ron Corning, an affiliate of ET in Dallas WFAA, said that the artistic director announced to the audience that Valerie was not feeling good and the ambulance was here to take her to the hospital. According to the director, Valerie wanted everyone to know that once she got some fluids and rest her, she would be back to normal and performing again.
However, ET reported that when Valerie was taken to the hospital a source told them that it didn’t look good. She was discharged from the hospital, but they supposedly transported her via medevac, to a bigger hospital for more treatment. Fans of Valerie Harper are left wondering if she is in a coma, or if she has been released, due to the conflicting reports. Valerie Harper has been battling terminal brain cancer since 2013. In 2009, she battled lung cancer. The doctors expected her to die before the year was up, but she didn’t take that diagnosis and give up. She decided to live her life and enjoy it to the best of her ability. Her cancer is not cured, but she told ET that she was cancer-free from the neck down. Valerie is part of the play, “Nice Work If You Can Get It.” Her part in the play does not begin until the second act when she plays the part of a wealthy domineering mother. The play is scheduled to run until August 15.There is no word on whether Valerie will make any of those performances.
