Can you believe the holidays are here already? It seems like time is flying by so fast! This is one of my favorite times of year for many reasons. One of the biggest is that so many inns make the most of the season by getting into the spirit through special inn tours and events that make a guest’s stay a truly magical experience. Consider one of these B&B’s that make December a month to remember.
Make Memories in the White Mountains at 1785 Inn
A classic country inn situated in the midst of New Hampshire’s spectacular White Mountains, 1785 Inn in North Conway offers guests warm New England hospitality, 17 comfy rooms, an onsite pub, and six stunning acres of gardens and grounds located at the Scenic Vista, one of the most photographed and painted landscapes in the U.S. Starting the first weekend in December and running through the winter season to the end of February, the inn hosts tours of its award-winning winter/holiday decorations. The festivities go even further with two additional special events that are incorporated into the tour: the White Mountains Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour and the Cross Country Inn-to-Inn Chocolate Festival. The Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour is a self-guided experience that runs on both Saturday and Sunday with 13 inns participating. Attendees can view holiday decorations, sample sweet treats, and take home recipe cards from each B&B, as well as an etched glass ornament as a memento. Guests who stay at least two nights at the inn receive two tickets with map included. Tickets to the Cross Country Inn-to-Inn Chocolate Festival are complimentary with at least a two-night stay too. Be sure to check the inn’s website for current dates and times.
Open Your Heart at an Open House Tour with Main Street Manor Bed & Breakfast
Situated in the historic residential district of Flemington Boro, NJ, Main Street Manor Bed & Breakfast is an elegant 1901 Victorian Manor House where guests enjoy comfortable accommodations and a location close to area attractions. This year the inn is hosting its 11th Annual Christmas Open HouseTour. The owners/innkeepers invite visitors to a self-guided tour of the common space to enjoy the Christmas decorations and holiday memorabilia. Attendees can delight in two fabulously festooned live Christmas Trees dressed in antique glass ornaments, yards of fresh greens, strands of twinkling lights, and collections of old-world Christmas, vintage Santa Clauses, and Snowmen. A donation of $10 per person will allow entrance. Refreshments, sweets, and holiday treats will also be provided. The money collected will be donated to the Kimi Goetz Olympic Fund to help support this Olympic hopeful, a Flemington hometown hero pursuing her dream of making the U.S. 2018 short track speed skating team. The innkeepers will be on hand to greet guests and answer questions about the inn and their Christmas collections. Children under the age of 12 are welcome to attend if they can be carried. No reservations are required. Be sure to check the inn’s website for current date and event hours.
Get in the Spirit with Holiday Tours and Winter Fun at Niagara Historic Cottage Rental
Canadians are known for being warm, welcoming hosts. At Niagara Historic Cottage Rental in Niagara on the Lake, ON, this character trait is true to form – especially during the holiday season. Guests headed to this B&B get the best of everything with two guest bedrooms luxuriously decorated with four-poster queen or king-size beds, luxury 100% Egyptian cotton linens, Turkish cotton towels, and lavender spa bath amenities; a patio, deck, and BBQ to relax and take in all the sights; and a location found on a bicycle path just minutes from Niagara’s award-winning wineries, farmers markets, historic Fort George, Niagara Falls, and the Casino Niagara. During the holiday season, the cottage will be dressed in all of its festive best as part of a candle light stroll the First Friday in December. Guests can walk or cycle in town or by the Niagara river and through the woods, then enjoy some hot chocolate or mulled wine by a toasty, cozy fire. The best part about the holidays is of course giving gifts and receiving them, and during the week days at Niagara Historic Cottage Rental when you pay two nights you get the third one free.
