With Global Force Wrestling out of the way, Impact Wrestling resumed its regularly scheduled program with an episode that featured a solid card and plenty of drama in the Heavyweight title picture.
Check out this week’s Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who else starred in TNA’s first episode of Impact following the promotion’s win over Global Force Wrestling.
Honorable Mention: Abyss: Much like Kane, poor Abyss has been watered down so much over the years. A wrecking machine, Abyss, now free of the Revolution, has an opportunity to be what he needs to be, a destroyer.
5: Chris Melendez: Say what you want about his ability in the ring, but Melendez beat a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion in Eric Young this week on Impact. That’s got to mean something, right? At the same time, with the EY feud behind him, Melendez needs a fresh angle and one that builds off his last one. It’s not going to be easy.
4: Gail Kim: Kim beat Jade this week in what was easily Jade’s best match to date. However, after the match, Awesome Kong hit the ring and you know what that means. The Trish Stratus/Lita matchup of TNA, Kim will have her hands full, but expect an epic.
3: Tigre Uno: He’s not Rey Mysterio. He’s not even Kalisto. But he’s the best little-masked guy TNA has. Continuing to work from strength, Uno continues to use the Tornado DDT and Springboard Frog Splash to get win after win. Add in his ability to sell and get the crowd behind him and he’s beginning to find his place in the middle of the card.
2: Drew Galloway: After leading TNA to a win over Global Force Wrestling and his win in an elimination match this week on Impact, Galloway is the #1 Contender for the TNA World Heavyweight title. Does he have what it takes to beat ECIII?
1: Ethan Carter III: A win over Rockstar Spud isn’t going to be in pro Wrestling Illustrated, but more drama with Jeff Hardy and the rise of Drew Galloway is sure to keep the TNA World Heavyweight Champion occupied over the next few weeks.
