The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2015 live stream and televised event takes place on Thursday as the lineup of balloons, marching bands, floats and performers makes their way through the New York City route! Among those scheduled to appear are Mariah Carey, Pat Benatar, Train, marching bands from Michigan and Florida, and of course, Santa Claus! The Macy’s Parade live online feed and TV coverage will arrive thanks to NBC, among other sources on Thursday.
On Nov. 24, the NBC New York site reported that this year’s 89th annual installment of the traditional Thanksgiving Day parade will begin in New York Thursday, spanning three hours. Hosting the show will be NBC’s “Today” anchor personalities Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker. Among those scheduled to perform are Daughtry, Plain White T’s, Jordin Sparks, Trey Songs, Train and Mariah Carey. There will also be Broadway performances given on 34th Street throughout the event including “The King & I,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Finding Neverland” casts.
Balloons are always part of the time-honored tradition and this year is no different. Among those making their returns will be Pikachu, Spongebob, Thomas the Thank, Pillsbury Doughboy and Paddington. There are four new giant balloon characters set to make their debut as well. They include an “Angry Birds” Red character, Scrat from “Ice Age” and Ronald McDonald in a newly-designed balloon theme. In addition to the balloons hovering above the streets will be marching bands, and of course, the floats.
“Snoop’s Doghouse” by Peanuts Worldwide is just one of the newest floats that viewers will get to witness. Also making a debut will be “The Colonel’s Road Trip to NYC” from Kentucky Fried Chicken, and “The Cranberry Cooperative” by Ocean Spray. Twelve different marching bands will play their spirited tunes in the streets of New York City as well including the University of Virginia’s band, the Stephen F. Austin State University band from Nacogdoches, Texas and the Gulf Coast High School from Naples, Florida.
The parade route starts up at 77th Street and Central Park West in New York City. From there, the procession marches to the Columbus Circle area, before making a turn onto Central Park South. They’ll proceed down 6th Avenue/Avenue of the Americas over to 34th Street. The final turn comes on 34th Street as they’ll end at 7th Avenue in front of Macy’s Herald Square. Expect to see Santa in his sleigh towards that area as the parade wraps up in the early afternoon just in time for the first of the football games to start.
Thursday’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2015 edition will start at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. For live television viewing, NBC will have the telecast on their affiliate stations around the nation. The NBC website, as well as Macy’s official site, should have live streaming online feeds for cable and satellite subscribers. Another option for how to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade live online is through EarthCam, which will show a certain area of the streets. That will allow viewers to see balloons and floats possibly, but not the various performances.
