It can be very convenient and empowering to be able to take control over your health, and know exactly what to do in certain situations. The following are three common problems that occur at home and how fix them:
Headaches can range in intensity from person to person. If you are experiencing a headache always make sure you are drinking enough water. Dehydration can cause many random symptoms in the body; most frequently headaches. Drink about 8 glasses a day to maintain hydration. Another remedy is to squeeze the fatty tissue between your thumb and index finger with firm pressure. In Chinese Medicine this area is considered to be the access point for anything going on in the head. Squeeze there for as long as you can and feel your headache slowly dissipate.
Allergies and sinus pressure
An easy way to decrease the inflammation and increase circulation in your sinuses is to massage them gently. Using your finger tips, massage your eyebrows, your temples, and the areas next to your nostrils. If you find a tender spot, stay on that spot a little longer. Another great way manage your symptoms is to reduce the allergens that is in your house. Wash all your pillow cases and bed sheets and put fresh ones on the bed. And then do not let anything that has ever been outside touch the bed. Imagine the bed as your sacred allergen free space. That means you will need to shower before bed – just make sure your hair is dry! If you have pets that go outside, they too can no longer jump on the bed.
Stress can manifest itself in many different ways. If you feel like you are experiencing stress it is important to make sure you have a happy healthy outlet to channel that energy. Doing mind body exercises like meditation or deep breathing is easy and convenient activity to do. Go to a nice quiet place and sit or lay down comfortably. Close your eyes and inhale deeply, and exhale fully. Try to empty your mind and relax every muscle in your body. Another helpful idea is to think of a useful mantra or phrase that you can say to yourself to help you to be mindful about stress. Mantras can be any phrase that is meaningful to you. Examples of some mantras can be “let it go” or “do not worry about it” or “I can handle this”. Just a helpful phrase to remind you that – you go this! And lastly, another great tip is to exercise. Moving around helps to move that energy around and provides a great outlet for stress.
People’s bodies are incredibly intelligent but sometimes it needs a little extra help. We all have a doctor inside of us; help your body to heal itself by supporting it and treating yourself kindly.
