Exhibiting virtually no defense against Miami, the Houston Texans gave up 41 points in the first half that led to a 44-26 lost to the Dolphins on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Texans were limited to 322 yards of total offense in the game under the field leadership of quarterback Brian Hoyer.
The first and second quarters were scoring juggernauts for the Dolphins, finding the end zone three times in both quarters. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for the first four Miami touchdowns; connecting with Rishard Matthews on a 53-yard pass at the 11:06 mark in the first quarter. He followed that up with scoring passes of 50 yards and 10 yards to Jarvis Landry. The LSU product’s 50 yard TD catch occurred with seven minutes left in the first quarter, while his second catch occurred at the 3:11 mark.
Tannehill and the Dolphins continued their scoring assault in the second quarter with a 54-yard pass to Miller and a Miller 85-yard run wht 3:02 remaining in the first half. In between Miller’s second quarter scores, safety Reshad Jones found himself in the right place to pick off Houston quarterback Brian Hoyer. The pass, which was intended for C.J. Fiedorowicz, allowed Jones’ inception was returned 23 yards for the score. Andrew Franks connected on five of his six kicking conversions to give Miami the 41-0 lead at halftime
Houston finally got on the scoreboard at the 8:28 mark in the the quarter when Hoyer connected with Arian Foster from seven yards out for the score. Nick Novak’s kicking conversion was not good, making the score 41-6 in favor of Miami. The Texans added seven more points with 1:45 left in the third quarter when Foster ran the ball in from two yards out. This time, Novak’s kick was good; cutting the Dolphin lead to 41-13. The fourth quarter saw the Texans adding 13 points to their total, while Miami added an insurance field goal to seal the win.
On a first-and-goal play from the Miami five-yard line, Arian Foster was injured and left the game. It was later revealed that he suffered an injured right Achilles tendon. He carried the ball 18 times for 59 yards and one touchdown. In addition, he caught five passes for 66 yards and one touchdown.
With the loss, the Texans fall to 2-5 in week seven, with a 12 noon CT game scheduled against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, November 1. The Titans lost to the Atlanta Falcons by the score of 10-7 on Sunday and are currently 2-4 for the season.
