Main Street in St. Charles will host a new event this year for Halloween. The historic cobblestone street will be filled with glowing pumpkins to celebrate fall. Pumpkins of varying sizes will be carved in an array of designs and set aglow for visitors to enjoy.
The event happens on October 23 and 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. each evening. Historic Main Street is home to many interesting shops, many of which will stay open late for the Pumpkin Glow, so visitors can browse or even begin their holiday shopping while enjoying the sites of fall.
Some shops will be handing out samples and others will provide food tastings. Among the edible treats are ice cream and fudge samples by Kilwins on South Main, peanut butter balls at the Bike Stop Café on Riverside Drive, fruit butters at Poppy’s Amish Cupboard, gooey butters and soda at Little O’s, wines and pickles at Missouri Mercantile and sauces and dips at Main Street Marketplace.
Many other shops will feature specials during the Pumpkin Glow. Ginsey Rose will give customers free earrings with each purchase and 20% off of scarves, Fox and Hound Antiques will have Savannah Bee Honey samples and sales, Provenance Soapworks will provide a complimentary hand treatment with a limited edition pumpkin spice sugar scrub and body butter, and Canine cookies n cream Dog Bakery will have samples of dog cookies as well as pop corn balls for their human customers.
Visitors are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and make it a festive evening. The Tintypery at 510 South Main Street will even provide a 5 x 7 photo of visitors in their Halloween costumes for just $5.
