Late Saturday evening, Scott Walker’s presidential campaign released a video highlighting the difference between Hillary Clinton’s enthusiastic, steadfast support for Planned Parenthood and his defunding Planned Parenthood 4 years ago, noting that he defunded them “long before any of these videos came out.”
This might be a shot at Donald Trump, who allegedly became pro-life recently. While Mr. Trump might have had a change of heart, voters are still left with the choice of accepting or rejecting Mr. Trump’s conversion. There’s no debating whether Gov. Walker is pro-life. He’s consistently walked the walk for years. That type of consistency can’t help but build trust. There’s nothing there to question about Gov. Walker’s position.
While it might take a veiled shot at Trump, there’s no question that it takes a strong shot at Hillary Clinton’s radical position on abortion. There’s no question that the woman who says she wants to be the “champion for everyday people” holds a position that isn’t in the mainstream of the Planned Parenthood issue.
Here’s the transcript from Gov. Walker’s video:
Hillary Clinton: “And I will defend a woman’s right to choose and Planned Parenthood.”
Megyn Kelly of Fox News: “This video from Planned Parenthood has made national news, and this so-called doctor is on there celebrating how she crushes the body parts of fetuses. What is your take on how this video changes the debate?”
Scott Walker (from Debate): “Unlike Hillary Clinton, who has a radical position of support for Planned Parenthood, I defunded Planned Parenthood more than four years ago, long before any of these videos came out.”
Scott Walker (to Megyn Kelly): “In our state we took the money, we defunded Planned Parenthood, and we put it into other entities. In many cases we put it into the county public health services so there are better non-controversial ways to do that, that can still provide for and protect women’s health.”
Scott Walker (in post-debate spin room): “When people talk about a pro-life record, I’ve actually done it – defunded Planned Parenthood, passed pro-life legislation.”
Scott Walker (to Megyn Kelly): “This video is one more example of why defunding them is so important.”
This issue isn’t about a woman’s right to choose. Steve Hayes insists that it’s about “infanticide for profit”:
Let’s be clear what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about the extraction of infants, many of whom could live outside of the womb were this not done to them — the taking of their body parts and then selling them for profit. This is not a morally ambiguous — this isn’t one of those discussions where there are two sides to the discussion. What we’re talking about is wrong. It’s morally reprehensible. I mean, I thought on the scale of things in the world that are morally reprehensible, infanticide is just about the worst. This is worse! It’s infanticide for profit!
Hayes is exactly right. It’s infanticide for profit. That’s what Hillary is supporting.
