High pressure over the Atlantic Ocean will drift further out to sea and away from the region today. A southerly flow of hot and humid air will remain in place through midweek. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through Thursday, with better chances for widespread precipitation coming on Thursday in advance of a stronger cold front.
The cold front stalls to our east Thursday night and Friday. Questions remain on just how far south and east the front will progress before it stalls. At this point, the better chances for precipitation on Friday, and over the weekend, look to remain over far southern New York and New England.
Temperatures through the period look to start out well above normal, and trend back to near normal toward the end of the period. Precipitation amounts look to average near to above normal.
