Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee is the quintessential Saturday night short track, and on Saturday, August 22, fans of NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series get a Saturday night shootout with the IRWIN Tools Night Race. Events at “Thunder Valley” kick off Tuesday, August 18, with Camping World Truck Series and Whelen Modified Tour races on Wednesday, August 19 and the Xfinity Series race on Friday, August 21.
On Wednesday there is a special Food City Race Night and Antique Tractor Show in Knoxville, TN at the Knoxville Expo Center from 4 to 8:30 p.m. ET – find out more about that event here. On Thursday, Food City Race Night moves to State St. (which runs from Bristol, TN to Bristol, VA) from 1 to 9 p.m. ET. There will be plenty of music, show cars, vendors, driver appearances, food sampling and more – get all the details here. Tickets for both events are $5 in advance, $6 at the gate.
Thursday’s event is followed by the 18th annual NASCAR Transporter Parade, beginning at 9 p.m. ET at a new location, Pinnacle Shopping Center, and ending at the speedway. Fans can watch the haulers enter from the grandstands (enter through Gate 10).
Speedway Children’s Charities’ Bristol chapter will be hosting a number of events during the week’s festivities, including a live memorabilia auction on Thursday, a charity cornhole tournament Friday and Saturday, and the Night Race 5K on Thursday – find a complete list of SCC activities here.
Gate 10 opens at 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday for Camping World Truck Series practice at 2 p.m. ET. On Wednesday, gates open at 9:30 a.m. ET for a full day of action featuring the Truck Series and the Whelen Modified and Southern Modified Tours in a joint event. The 150-lap Modified feature, the Bush’s Beans 150, goes green at 6:15 p.m. ET, and the Truck Series UNOH 200 presented by ZLOOP takes the green flag at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Action returns to the track Friday, with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. ET for Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series action. The Food City 300 Xfinity Series race goes green at 7:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, gates open at 1 p.m. ET, with a pre-race concert from Steven Tyler at 5:45 p.m. ET and the IRWIN Tools Night Race going green at 7:30 p.m. ET.
