High pressure will be anchored over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean through the early portions of the new work week. A westerly flow of mild, and not as humid, air will be over the region today. The winds will shift more to a south to southwest direction to start the work week, causing a subsequent raise in the humidity levels.
Patchy morning fog will burn off to reveal hazy sunshine, warm, and humid conditions each day through at least Wednesday, as it appears. Temperatures will flirt with the 90 degree mark in the Capital District each day, perhaps exceeding it on today and Monday. Heat index temperatures may become dangerously high Monday and Tuesday thanks to the increase in humidity levels, ranging between 95 and 100 degrees in the Capital District.
A series of weak systems will attempt to break down the strong high pressure ridge over the region by the midweek period, and this will result in increased chances for showers and thunderstorms. A cooler area of high pressure looks to build in by late in the week next week, bringing seasonably mild temperatures to the region with much less humidity.
