Two al Qaeda terrorists who had killed American soldiers were able to enter the United States as refugees, according to a report released recently from the House Homeland Security Committee in an article published by Free Beacon. Texas Governor Greg Abbott cited the cases of Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi as illustrations of why he is opposing the Administration’s plan to settle 10,000 Syrian “refugees’ in the United States. Those two terrorists settled in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The two terrorists bragged they had the American soldiers they killed “for lunch and dinner.” It was in 2010 the two Islamic terrorists were apprehended for handling weapons. Those weapons included a machine gun and a missile launcher. That such dangerous Muslims were allowed to settle in the U.S. is shocking. The Administration has not made clear as to why they were allowed free passage into the heartland of America.
Abbott recently said, “Given the tragic attacks in Paris and the threats we have already seen, Texas cannot participate in any program that will result in Syrian refugees….any one of whom could be connected to terrorism….being resettled in Texas.”
Jessica Vaughn, immigration expert at the Center for Immigration Studies, said, “There have been roughly 70 terrorists plots in the United States since 9/11 and scores of young people who are first or second generation refugees and immigrants who have become involved in some way with Islamist jihadists, either by undertaking attacks here or traveling overseas to join a terrorist group, or both.”
Abbott, who is a native of Wichita Falls, Texas, referred to Romans, chapter 13 as a Biblical basis for a government to protect the borders of the country it is supposed to represent. The former Texas Attorney General recently said, “Romans 13 teaches that Government’s role is different than man’s duty; it is to protect citizens and ensure justice. Texas will abide.” The first verse of that chapter reads in pertinent part as follows: “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.”
Abbott is not the only governor who is opposed to the Administration’s plan to allow Syrian refugees to resettle in his state. Several other governors have followed in the Texas governor’s footsteps in recognizing the lessons from the Paris terrorist attacks in which at least one Muslim posing as a Syrian refugee was reportedly involved. ISIS has claimed credit for the cold-blooded murder of the 129 victims in the Paris attack and has vowed to attack targets in the United States including Washington D.C.
As the philosopher Santayana once said, “Those who don’t learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.” A corollary is that those of us who have learned the lessons of history are doomed to stand by and watch our federal government repeat the same mistakes of the past. Fortunately there are some of our leaders like Greg Abbott who are in a position to do something to save the republic.
Hordes of barbarians from the north overran the borders of the Roman Empire and destroyed that civilization. Is the United States to suffer a similar fate as ISIS continues to infiltrate the country with agents posing as “refugees?”
Muslims invaded Spain and Portugal in 711 A.D. and retained control until 1492. Other Muslims invaded Eastern Europe all the way to the gates of Vienna, Austria before being defeated. Will our leaders learn these lessons of history?
They should at least remember recent history……9/11.
