Here are a few beauty products our eyes have been glazing over about!
Dry Shampoo: Suave Professionals Refresh & Revive For all hair types
Experts say that you shouldn’t wash your hair every day, that consistent washing strips the natural oils away from your hair. Though there are many products on the market that guarantee less color loss and more gentle washing, experts still insist women find an alternative. That solution has become dry shampoo, and there are many! This month we tested out Suaves dry shampoo to give it a try. Suave promises hair that looks washed without water. The first thing to note is the smell of this dry shampoo, when spraying the smell can be overpowering. As it is massaged into the scalp and brushed through, the smell fades to a lighter scent. Leaves no white residue after application, blends easily. Sprayed on the skin the spray takes around 30-40 seconds to completely dry, which is better than others because drying time is key to a quick morning. The Refresh and Revive method is a little under noted. On one day hair this spray adds oil rather than removing it, on two-day hair, it removes a good amount of oil, but the hair still looked like it needed a good washing. The spray is not too strong, which makes the application process much easier. It also tends to clog less than other products, you do still have to clean to spray head from time to time. The can has already been used around twelve to thirteen times, and is still full, very little product is required to achieve your desired look. The longer you let it sit the better it seems to work.
Dupe Beauty Blender: Sassy+Chic Blender Makeup Sponge
This little beauty was snagged at the Dollar Tree. It looks like your classic beauty blender and is a very cheap dupe. Does it work? Mostly. However, this month it’s our favorite around the Barn because it is easy to use and quick to get the job done. Barn makeup usually is only applied for shows and minimal daily wear. This sponge is not as soft as the beauty blender, but gets softer when used wet with warm water. Unlike flat makeup sponges, this one can be washed and reused several times, and washing with a non-irritating soap is best. We’ve been using Castille soap to wash the sponge, this gets rid of germs and bacteria that may have taken up residence in the sponge. Comes in several colors and makes blending liquid foundation, primer, concealer, and BB Cream much easier. It does not do well with powder. A patting motion works best when blending liquid foundation. For a dollar, this blender is a steal!
Dry Spray Deodorant: Dove Dry Spray Cool
This spray on deodorant goes on clear and dries instantly, leaving no white residue on beautiful western show shirts. Easy to apply, takes very little of the product to achieve coverage. Bottle says lasts up to 8 weeks but we achieved ten weeks out of ours! Nice refreshing smell, nourishes skin and gets rid of bumpy spots. Not an all day deodorant and needed to be reapplied after five or six hours. Claims to last 48hrs, however, when not riding horses and mucking stalls gave us a day of wearability. Easy to spray, top comes off easy and spray nozzle does not clog.
