A man who appeared to be having car trouble caught the eye of a good Samaritan family, who stopped to see if they could give this guy a hand. The father, mother and daughter were gunned down for their efforts, with only 26-year-old Jorah Shane surviving this rampage when her parents were killed.
According to MSN News on July 31, Jorah Shane needed surgery for a bullet lodged in her spine and her family members did not tell her that her mother and father had perished in the shooting before she went under the knife. When the Meeteetse, Montana family stopped by the roadside on this Indian Reservation to render a hand, 18-year-old Jesus Deniz pulled out a gun and ordered everyone out of the car then demanded their money.
The family told him they didn’t have any money and the man opened fire, with Jorah following her mother’s advice to “run.” Deniz shot the father first and then the mother, but Jorah kept running even though she was shot in the face and back. The shooter took off in the family’s car, reports CNN News today.
Before Jorah went into surgery she told police to look for her mother in the fields near the shooting, as she believed that is where her mother would hide. The family just didn’t have the heart to tell her that her parents were gone as she was just about ready to go into surgery.
Deniz, who hails from Worland, Wyoming was arrested about 120 miles away from the scene. Deniz told police he shot the family because he was “tired of waiting around” and because the “daughter laughed at him.” He admitted to all three shootings and to stealing their car, which was indicated in a court statement filed by FBI Special Agent Larry McGrail. The husband and wife who died in this horrendous event are identified as Jason Shane, 51, and Tana Shane, 47. The names were confirmed by FBI spokesman Todd Palmer.
Deniz is awaiting extradition back to Montana where he will face charges in these shooting deaths. He was due in a Billings Montana Court on Friday afternoon to face these charges. The shooting happened on an Indian reservation near this family’s home. It appears that Deniz might have been waiting for someone to stop and help him and unfortunately this family, who was trying to be helpful, ended up paying for this with the couple’s lives.
