Being one of the most dangerous fighters in the ring is really an achievement; but despite his reputation, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is still keeping his feet on the ground. Gennady who demolished 30 out of his 33 opponents by knock out is preparing for his upcoming fight against Middleweight title holder David Lemieux fighthype.com reported this afternoon, July 31. The fight will be held at Madison Square Garden on October 17.
In an interview, Gennady expressed his excitement to face the middleweight title holder. “I’m very excited to face David Lemieux to prove who is #1 in the middleweight division. I look forward to fighting again at Madison Square Garden and putting on another “Big Drama Show” for my fans in New York City, “GGG” commented.
David Lemieux, on the other hand, also expressed his belief that he is still the best in the his division. “I’ve said and I don’t care who I fight, so long as they are the best, and Golovkin is the best out there in the middleweight division,” David said during the interview.
Meanwhile, if “GGG” and David are very much ready to face each other in the ring on Oct. 17, Floyd Mayweather, the undefeated American boxer and reigning pound for pound king is doing his usual routine every time he is scheduled to meet his opponent in the ring. Using his official Twitter account, Floyd Mayweather informed everyone that he has already started training. As you all know, the “Money Man” has a scheduled fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
A report said he has chosen Andre Berto to be his next foe this coming September, his last fight with the biggest network (Showtime). But before he retires after his contract with Showtime expires, some boxing experts are telling him to face “GGG” because he still holds the WBA light middleweight belt.
Almost a week ago, Sky Sports reported that “GGG” is willing to go down at 154 lbs just to meet Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring. Unfortunately, Floyd is still not responding to him. Assuming that Mayweather accepts the fight, boxing fans should rejoice because they’ll be able to see the biggest fight in the history of boxing.
Boxing experts say “GGG” can beat Floyd in the light middleweight division. They also say Floyd could run in the ring like what he did to Pacquiao when they met in the ring last May 2 if he faces Gennady.
