Ginnifer Goodwin of “Once Upon a Time” (OUAT) fame was emotionally overcome this week upon learning of her surprising “criminal” history. The Snow White star is set to witness a photo of her law-breaking great-grandfather for the first time on TLC’s hit new show, “Who Do You Think You Are?,” based on a teaser clip. US Weekly News reported this Friday, July 24, 2015, that Goodwin was shocked to see the mug shot of her long-deceased relative, and apparently has a lot more to learn about her past family in an upcoming episode of the series.
In a culture that loves actors on the big and small screen, a show like “Who Do You Think You Are?” was destined to be a smash hit with fans. The program features various celebrities who are allowed to explore their genealogies and histories with likely never-before-known information. Ginnifer Goodwin is the most recent beloved actress who will make an appearance on the TLC show, and fans are already clamoring about a sneak peek episode that is set to premiere this Sunday.
It appears that Goodwin, despite playing the kind and righteous Snow White and wife of Prince Charming on OUAT, has a great-grandfather with a criminal history in real life. KSite TV News shared this week that on this weekend’s upcoming episode of “Who Do You Think You Are?” — which will air at 9 pm ET — Ginnifer will informally “meet” her great-grandfather, who wasn’t an altogether law-abiding citizen of the United States.
According to the media insider’s teaser, Goodwin reveals that she never knew any real details about her paternal grandfather’s ancestors simply because the man never talked about his family. Now, the “Once Upon a Time” actress understands why at last. It seems that her great-grandfather committed a serious crime back in the day, and as a result, spent a considerable amount of time behind bars in a federal prison.
Ginnifer Goodwin reportedly couldn’t help but shed a few tears when she saw his photo. The picture showcases her distant family member in a mug shot dating back to when the man was just under 30 years old. The OUAT actress seemed saddened, albeit enthralled, by the news that surfaced and this criminal history in her family finally coming to light.
“Oh wow,” exclaimed Goodwin when she initially saw her great-grandfather’s face. In the episode, Ginnifer can be seen taking a close look at the documents surrounding his arrest and capture, trying not to cry. “That’s wild … I don’t think anyone in my family has ever seen a picture of him! I can see him in my father. The Goodwin gene is strong.”
There are more mysterious to unfold with Ginnifer Goodwin on this weekend’s new episode of “Who Do You Think You Are?” Apparently, the “Once Upon a Time” star will even be privy to a past letter from her great-grandmother appealing to the federal prison’s main warden regarding information about a mistress that her husband was allegedly keeping at the time. Talk about a blast from the past and an intimate view of celebrity history. The new season of the TLC show has a lot of big names to offer for fans, from JK Rowling to Tom Bergeron, so please stay tuned.
