The incredible Ghost Ship party is returning to San Francisco for Halloween. The party will be held on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31. This party is known for bringing together the incredible local artist community to create a spectacular Halloween event. Alongside the art and festivities, the producers are doing everything they can to make it a green event, and have spent the big bucks to bring in the city’s top waste management vendors to manage this. So, that means that by attending this party you are not only supporting the Bay Area arts community, but supporting the environment, as well.
The annual party premiered in 2008, and was inspired by the ending of the Castro Halloween celebration in previous years. The vision of the party was to bring together local artists and musicians for a great Halloween celebration and focused on using sustainable and recyclable materials, eliminating waste and being green wherever possible. The event started out on Treasure Island in Building 108,where it remained for a few years. In 2013, the party moved to San Francisco’s Pier 70, and has remained there since. In 2014, the event went from a one night event to a two night extravaganza. It will be two nights again this year, Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31.
Each year the party gets more extravagant, with more art, performances, and spooky decor. Last year there was a haunted house area, a ferris wheel, loads of art cars, and a giant slide, not to mention the DJs and incredible music. This year promises to be even better. Friday night performances will include, GOLDFISH (live), David Harness, Crossroads Mafia (live), All Good Funk Alliance, Laura Lisbona, Birdee, Brother in Arms, and many more. Saturday night performances will include: DJ QBert, Krafty Kuts, Fort KNox Five vs Qdup, DJ Apollo, Mano Meter, The Gentleman Callers, Plaza de Funk, and many more. With this level of talent, you may have a hard time deciding what night to attend. If that is the case, you can get a two night ticket.
This event is known for selling out, so you should definitely get your ticket in advance. Tickets will go up in price as ticket tiers sell out and the event approaches. As of this writing, many of the less expensive ticket tiers are already sold out. Right now, two night passes are going for $95, Friday night tickets are $55 and Saturday night tickets are $75.
If you decide to go, bring an empty container for water. In keeping with the green theme, there will be free water refill stations throughout the event. Come out to Ghost Ship this Halloween. It will be a spooky good time and you can feel good about attending an event that remains committed to being green!
