Julia Louis-Dreyfus was honored recently at the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards by winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Selina Meyer on HBO’s Veep. With over 20 nominations for Emmys and the winner of seven, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one of the most nominated actresses in the history of the Emmy Awards. So how does such a powerhouse look so great on the red carpet? She turns to La Prairie!
For the 2015 Emmys, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, left her makeup look in the hands of makeup artist Karen Kawahara. To match the simplistic elegance of Julia’s Safiyaa one shoulder black gown and the seriously blinged out jewelry by Chopard, Kawahara created a look that was exactly what Julia needed to bring a balance to her ensemble. Here’s the how to for Julia’s makeup.
Step One: According to Karen, the first thing she did was prep Julia’s skin with La Prairie Cellular Softening and Balancing Lotion ($170). Once she was done she followed up with Skin Caviar Luxe Cream • Sheer ($430) on Julia’s skin.
Step Two: Next Karen, used Skin Caviar Concealer ● Foundation SPF 15 in Honey Beige ($215) to create perfect and luminous looking skin. Then the Light Fantastic Cellular Concealing ● Brightening Eye Treatment ($80) pen was used under the eye and on the balls of the cheeks to highlight and make Julia’s eyes pop.
Step Three: On the cheeks, Karen used Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Rose Glow ($70) to give Julia a natural luminescent glow. She then followed that up by gently dusting Cellular Treatment Bronzing Powder ($65) on her face. By doing this it sets the skin, while still leaving a dewy and fresh look.
Step Four: For the eyes, Karen used Luxe Eyeliner Automatic in Noir ($50) to frame the eye, and then followed it up with Cellular Treatment Eye Colour Ensemble in Les Cristals ($70). She gently contoured the eyes by extending the dark shadow out to the edge of Julia’s eyes for a soft and smokey look.
Step Five: To complete the eyes, Karen used Cellular Treatment Mascara Instant Curl in Noir ($40) and then filled and elongated the eyebrows gently with Luxe Brow Liner Automatic in Brun and Taupe ($50). Lastly, Karen completed the look with Cellular Luxe Lip Colour in Almost Pink ($55) on the lips.
