The world of NASCAR racing is exhilarating as a spectator, so imagine what it is like to actually ride in one of the racecars. Goody’s, along with their spokesperson famed driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., launched the “Ride with Dale Jr.” contest at the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway. The cool contest was announced in a new video that captured the experience of four fans receiving a surprise of a lifetime, a ride around the racetrack with Earnhardt.
Now, even more fans can enter for the chance to win a special ride along with Earnhardt in the Goody’s No. 88 car, along with VIP tickets to watch him drive the Goody’s car in 2016. Earnhardt, the defending winner of the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 at Martinsville Speedway, is a third-generation NASCAR driver and two-time Daytona 500 winner. He has won the National Motorsports Press Association Most Popular Driver Award for 12 years in a row.
Fans are encouraged to take the chance to win by watching the video and then visiting ridewithdalejr.com to answer a question about the video for entry. In addition to the grand prize winner, five runners-ups will receive signed Dale Earnhardt Jr. memorabilia and all entrants will receive a $1 off Goody’s coupon. All winners will be selected at random and will be announced in January of 2016 on Goody’s social media channels.
Goody’s Powder, became the first non-automotive sponsor in NASCAR in 1977, when it signed the legendary Richard Petty as a spokesperson. Petty’s partnership with Goody’s began one of the longest running relationships in sports promotion, which continues today. The company has now introduced the new Mixed Fruit Blast Headache Powder and Back & Body Relief Single Dose at the Goody’s Fast Relief Zone at the Martinsville Speedway, to coordinate with the contest. The Mixed Fruit Blast Headache Powder provides fast pain relief of minor body aches and pains in a mixed fruit flavor. The new Liquid Fast Relief for Back & Body Single Dose provides liquid-fast pain relief of minor body aches and pains.
Speaking with Joseph Juliano, brand director for Goody’s, one can sense the passionate tie between Goody’s and Earnhardt.
“We feel so lucky to continue to have Dale Jr. as a partner on the Goody’s team,” states Juliano. “His continued success on the track and his dedication to his fans is an inspiration to all of us. It has been so exciting to be able to team up with him and offer memorable experiences to his fans and show support for the Goody’s brand and products, which offer fast pain relief when his fans need it most.”
Carol Ruth Weber: What paved the way for Goody’s to become the first non-automotive sponsor for NASCAR?
Joseph Juliano: Goody’s stands for speed of relief and the brand wanted to find a partnership that really articulates to consumers how fast Goody’s works. With NASCAR and Goody’s both being founded in the South, it makes perfect sense that they team up.
CRW: How did Goody’s end up partnering with Dale Earnhardt Jr.?
JJ: When our company bought Goody’s in 2012 we were looking for somebody who could bring new users to Goody’s. Richard Petty has been a spokesperson since 1977 and continues as a wonderful spokesperson. I wanted to bring in someone else who would appeal to new younger users.
CRW: What is Dale really like with his fans?
JJ: He’s really great. The thing about Dale is that is a very authentic guy and he really wants to be with his fans. We wanted someone who is genuine and someone who enjoys talking to his fans. Dale has many different sponsors and he says no to many who want him, but he wanted to be part of the Goody’s partnership.
CRW: What makes Goody’s a good sponsor for NASCAR?
JJ: We have a relationship with a very powerful advocate of NASCAR in Dale Jr. and the authentic and historic track, Martinsville Speedway. Through Dale Jr. We are able to bring new fans to the sport of NASCAR.
CRW: How did you come up with the idea of a ride with Dale Jr. contest?
JJ: We had an idea that it would be fun to surprise fans to not only meet Dale Jr. but also ride with Dale in the Goody’s 88 car. That took place in the spring which was a huge hit and brought us to create the contest offering the ride with Dale Jr.
Earnhardt states about Goody’s and the contest, “Working with Goody’s the past few years has been an enjoyable experience for me and everyone at JR Motorsports“ continuing “They’re a longstanding supporter of our sport, and they continue to be innovators in creating new fast pain relief products and thinking up creative ways to reach our fans. I’m excited about ‘Ride with Dale Jr.’ we’re launching where a fan is going to get to experience what it’s like to get in a race car with me.“
