The French Open 2015 live stream and televised action continues on Saturday with men’s and women’s matches from Roland Garros. Among them will be an anticipated matchup of Gael Monfils vs. Roger Federer. Federer, the No. 2 seed at the event, is the only other recent champion within the past decade at the tournament not named Rafael Nadal. Monfils, a No. 13 seed, will be looking to score the huge upset en route to the next round. Also in action, will be No. 2 women’s star Maria Sharapova. Live streaming online and TV coverage arrives for tennis fans thanks to Tennis channel and NBC networks.
According to BBC Sport in their May 29 report, Federer was victorious by a final of 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 over Damir Dzumhur in his third round match. The win put Federer into the fourth round for his eleventh straight year, an impressive mark for most. Fewer was the 2009 champion, breaking up Rafael Nadal’s run which has seen him win it nine times in the last ten editions. For Federer a title at Roland Garros would give him the 18th Grand Slam title for men’s tennis. However, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and a few other men’s stars are still potentially in his way.
Meanwhile, Maria Sharapova is also continuing into the next round. In her third round match she defeated Samantha Stosur by a final of 6-3, 6-4. Sharapova is the defending women’s champion, but Serena Williams is also still around in this tournament. She’ll next play fellow American Sloane Stephens for a shot at the next round. Other women’s hopefuls include No. 7 Ana Ivanovic and No. 9 Ekaterina Makarova. Those two will play each other ahead of Sharapova’s next match on Sunday.
The latest odds have both the men’s and women’s No. 2 players as the favorites for their matchups. Federer is just a slight favorite at -260 compared to +220 for Monfils. Sharapova is listed as a -300 favorite against Safarova who is at +250 on the moneyline. Other favorites in the next round will include Serena Williams at -655 against Sloane Stephens and Novak Djokovic at -3000 against Richard Gasquet at +1500. The tournament will continue into early June when the champions are determined.
