Once the Islamic extremist group known as ISIS, or ISIL, began posting videos of beheadings, it sparked outrage around the world. While these videos were deeply disturbing, one Fox News host believes that what was revealed in the recent attack videos of Planned Parenthood was “far worse.”
Over the last two weeks, secretly recorded videos of an undercover sting operation were released, showing members of Planned Parenthood discussing the use fetal tissue donations for scientific research. Republicans and the right wing media have demanded that the federal government defund the woman’s health organization, while the group itself has pushed back, claiming that the videos were edited by a deceitful anti-abortion group with a radical agenda. This topic was discussed on the July 29 edition of “The Five” on Fox News.
Opening the segment with a minute long rant was co-host Greg Gutfeld. Accusing Planned Parenthood of taking a woman’s right to choose too far, Gutfeld said the group was now including the term “Dismemberment is her choice too.” Continuing, Gutfeld said the videos were a “collaboration of evil that rains shame down on all of us.” Kicking the conversation to another co-host, Eric Bolling said that the details in the video and the “callus” way that the Planned Parenthood doctors spoke about disregarding a fetus was worse than the ISIS videos murdering people on screen.”
“I’ve watched the beheading videos of ISIS. These videos of Planned Parenthood were far worse. They literally made me nauseous. Don’t watch them. I’ve never seen such callus, cold, just disdain for human life than these Planned Parenthood people.”
Co-host Geraldo Rivera chimed in, noting that Bolling shouldn’t jump to conclusions so quick, especially if the doctors were trying to use the stem cells in the fetal tissue to help make scientific advances in other areas of medicine. Bolling shot down Rivera’s claim, stating, “There is no question they weren’t trying to profit.” Adding to the hysteria was Gutfeld, who questioned “if we found out a fetus was nutritionally fantastic, do we now have it for breakfast?”
The Planned Parenthood videos have left many uncomfortable, and not just those on the political right. The tone of the videos have come across as emotionless to some, which has even left many liberals in an unfamiliar position. Despite this, the majority of the American people still want the government to fund Planned Parenthood, much to the objection of the right-wing media, led by Fox News.
