Fluidity is an at home and in studio workout that has a number of benefits that exceed a traditional barre workout according to creator Michelle Austin. The Fluidity Barre helps participants realign their bodies through the various techniques that are taught. The height level of the device can be adjusted to accommodate each individual. Being adjustable is ideal for both front & back exercises, since it is not against a wall and is easier to align the spine. In addition, the workout helps strengthen pelvic muscles to help with incontinence (a real issue for many women). Continue reading the interview below to learn more about Fluidity and the benefits of this workout.
NYFE: What are some of the biggest benefits from taking a Fluidity class regularly?
Michelle Austin (MA): Where do I begin?! I think first and foremost it’s strengthening the body into neutral alignment. Our modern day lifestyle wreaks havoc on our postural alignment which has far reaching affects on everything from the way our organs function to how our body looks. Fluidity corrects that misalignment at the same time creating whole-body muscle balance and flexibility. From a functional benefits standpoint, a Fluidity body is a body that moves with greater efficiency, mobility and grace in everyday life. From a beauty standpoint, whole-body muscle balance from head to toe – front and back, creates proportion, and it’s proportion that makes anybody look longer and leaner. Think the lines and curves of a dancer’s body: strong, rounded shoulders; flat, sculpted abs; leaner, firmer thighs and calves; great posture, and a little bit of balletic self-confidence and poise. Who doesn’t want Fluidity in their body? There’s a reason it’s so addictive.
NYFE: According ShareCare.com up to 33% of adults suffer from incontinence, what Fluidity workouts are best for this problem?
MA: All!! The Fluidity Barre workouts are designed to strengthen our inner unit into proper alignment. The base of our core is our pelvic floor. If the muscles of the inner unit are aligned correctly and strengthened, your pelvic floor issues can resolve. Those going through rehabilitation will agree, when you strengthen the body into proper alignment with ground based integrative movement the body self corrects. Fluidity is fast gaining a reputation as the only mass modality that strengthens the body into alignment and therefore creates function on a scalable level.
NYFE: Can you share one of your most memorable clients? How didFluidity change their lives?
MA: Celebs like Cher and Britney Spears own the Fluidity Barre and swear by it and I love that! 65 million women in America alone are in diapers and 400,000 a year opt for surgeries that have huge rates of failure and you can see on TV the class action lawsuits. I hope to give women the option to strengthen their pelvic floor while getting a gorgeous body, relieve themselves of their diapers and celebrate their sexuality by enjoying their newfound strength.
NYFE: Anything new and exciting coming up?
MA: Actually yes, movement is beginning to be measured. Meaning that you can measure if a workout is putting you in better alignment versus worse. We are working with the scientists that are doing this and currently collecting data. They tell us we are the “Gold Standard of Corrective Movement”. If a workout can help you facilitate your own natural healing process and the end result is you look your best then I would say that’s exciting!
