Last month, the ESPYs named Ronda Rousey as ‘Fight of the Year.’ At the time, Rousey told the press that she wonders how Mayweather must feel to get beat by a woman for once. Clearly, she was referring to his history of domestic violence, according to L.A. Times on Friday. She went on to say she would like for him to pretend to not know who she is now.
Mayweather sat down with ESPN yesterday, and he definitely knew her name. He said, “I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC.” He went on to state that he has won six or seven ‘Fight of the Year’ awards. He seemed sincere when he stated that she deserved the award this year.
The interview pressed to find out just how Mayweather felt about her comment about being beat by a woman for once. He laughed and stated, “I have yet to see an MMA fighter or boxer get paid 200 million for 36 minutes.” He went on to hint that if she can get that kind of pay to call him.
Mayweather is set to fight his last fight on Sept 12 against Andre Berto. Many fans are upset he chose to fight Berto. It has been debated that he picked him because he knew he would win the fight. And, he can retire undefeated.
Berto is a very, very tough guy, hungry and I know he is not going to lay down. I chose Berto because he is very exciting. Then I looked and then said, well I have been getting backlash, he’s been getting backlash. No one is forced to buy the fight. I appreciate it, but no one is forced to buy the fight.
