Those of us “water babies” that grew up near the water have always felt the undeniable pull of the ocean as we get closer to it. My own ridiculous inability to keep from running and jumping into the ocean as soon as I get to South Florida is the kind of pull I’m talking about. Regardless of the time of year, regardless of how cold the water gets, regardless of how murky it may be, regardless of how many sharks they’ve spotted….means nothing. The power of the water is like the most addictive drug on earth.
In today’s world…we all feel stress. It’s inevitable, it’s all around us and it affects us all daily regardless of how rich or poor you may be. The question isn’t whether you’ll be affected by stress….the question is how you’ll deal with it.
There are times when the stresses of daily life can get to you so much, that all we want is to lay down somewhere quiet, in pure darkness….and just relax.
If this sounds like something you’ve felt before, you owe it to yourself to check out Astral Float Spas in Parker. Big Steve Skailkowski owns and operates this amazing facility and is one of the friendliest and helpful guys you can ask for, plus he’s a military veteran too, so supporting our local protectors is important.
Ever heard of Epsom Salts baths?….If you’re a fighter, you have for sure.
We all know that fighters put their bodies through tremendous physical stresses in a typical day of training. We also know that athletes have used Epsom salts baths to help with injuries & weight cutting for a very long time. Epsom salts baths have been a staple of old school wrestlers for a very long time…but why?
Epsom salts baths have long been associated with healing qualities. Everything from aches and soreness, weight cutting, energizing our skin and of course….buoyancy in water.
Astral Float Spas has brought all of those healing qualities to our fight community lately, and the results have been astounding. Many fighters from various camps have come to Astral Float Spas (@Astral_FloatSpa) and had the chance to lay in one of the 4 float tanks there. The tanks not only provide you with an amazing physical experience, but they really allow you to get into your own mind which lets you let go of all of the stressful thoughts in your mind.
Fighting or most competitions are essentially 90% mental. Everyone spends ungodly amounts of time fine tuning their bodies….but what about their minds?
How can you train your mind to focus on a single objective…like breathing? Getting your mind to focus on a single task at hand is a very difficult thing under duress…so why should your mind not be trained as well?
As many hunters or shooters know, controlling your breathing is a major component of good successful shooting and can be the difference between a perfectly placed shot…or a complete miss. Consciously slowing down your breathing and then squeezing the trigger in between breaths is what prevents a “jumpy shot” and it’s the best way to truly relax enough to make the shot count.
Astral Float Spas have provided our community now with that truest form of relaxation. Being in the float tank allows you to get into a completely dark and quiet isolation tank. The water is warm…exactly the same temperature as your skin…so you don’t get cold. Then you simply lay down in the water and allow your body and mind to just slow things down enough to literally let things go. All you can hear and feel when laying in that tank is your heartbeat and your breathing….it is a very surreal moment. You truly feel like you’re lying down in a cloud.
If you’re a fighter that is struggling with the mental side of the game, or you’re just not able to completely block things out and go forward. Or if you’re the type of fighter that gets themselves so worked up psychologically that you find yourself tiring quickly. Or maybe you’re a coach that needs to find new ways to connect better with your fighters….all of these situations can definitely use a good, solitary 60 minute float.
Floating is obviously great for fighters, even if you are not a fighter or coach…and you just find yourself needing to truly relax, then get yourself over to Astral Float Spas and Big Steve will give anyone that mentions this article a 1st time float at 50% off.
Here’s an article about Astral Float Spas by the Parker Chronicle too.
