Dog-Friendly Food & Wine Event returns! Thursday, Oct 1
“This one’s for the dogs!” Get ready, Foodies, Wine lovers, and dog owners — Fine Wines & Canines is almost here! This unique dog-friendly Food & Wine event takes place on Thursday, October 1, at Royal Palm Place in downtown Boca Raton from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. celebrating its 6th year, this fun-filled festival features unlimited samplings from local restaurants, along with select wine pairings, live entertainment for humans and canines alike, and more — all in a relaxed outdoor setting under the fall sky.
Your four-legged friends will have fun too, with plenty of dog treats, water bowls, play areas, and other doggies to socialize with and catch up on old times (my dog would be taking selfies if he had opposing thumbs!). You’ll also have the chance to enter your best friend in one or more of the Dog Contests, including Biggest Dog, Smallest Dog, Best Dressed Dog, and the ever-popular Owner look-alike contest.
Amongst the participating restaurants are a pack of exciting newcomers, including A Touch of Spain, Another Broken Egg Café, Boca Beach Cantina, Casa Maya, Dutchey’s Sausage, M.E.A.T. Eatery and Taproom, Paolo’s Beachside, Yoko-San Hibachi, Sushi & Sake Lounge, and more; along with returning favorites likes Biergarten, Dubliner, Fran’s Chicken Haven, Saquella Caffe, Spadini’s Pizza, and the Waterstone Resort & Marina. Accompany all this fine fare with unlimited wine tastings from an international selection. Over 500 people are expected to attend this year’s event, which also features a Silent Auction with a host of great prizes, along with live entertainment provided by sultry songstress Kendra Erika, and the band Rock Candy.
All proceeds of the event go to benefit PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership), and its Scholarship program. “We have 17 seniors who are graduating this year and we hope this event will help provide some financial aid for their college careers” notes PROPEL’s Executive Director Nhu Nguyen. Mr. Nguyen also proudly adds, “Since the inception of Fine Wines & Canines, PROPEL has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships for local students to enroll in college, trade schools, and GED courses. It’s an incredible experience when we can guide a student to graduate high school and actually award them a scholarship to attend college.”
