The NYC Kindergarten 2016 admissions season has already begun. Both the gifted Hunter College Elementary and most private schools have made their applications available on-line, and the deadline for turning them in is November/December. (Learn more at this podcast.).
Request for Testing for public school gifted and talented programs go up in October, and then there are general education programs, dual language programs, magnet and charter schools, too. (Listen to an overview of all your options, here). How can an NYC parent who wants to find the best Kindergarten for their child be certain that the school they’ve chosen is the best fit?
NYC’s Parents of Accelerated Learners (PALNYC) would like to help you with that very important decision. On October 18, 2015 at the New York Law School in TriBeCa, they are hosting their Biennial 2015 NYC G&T ‘Right Fit’ Symposium & Benefit.
The event is being billed as “one day to invest in your child’s future.” This day-long symposium will educate parents on the pre-k through high school educational landscape in NYC. From accelerated learners, to children with learning differences and everyone in between, the Symposium will include content and resources that support the strengths and talents of all NYC youth, featuring expert speakers and panelists— admissions directors, educational consultants, school psychologists— as well as parent and student perspectives that explore topics including: Supporting Your Child’s Passion: Preparing for the Road Ahead; Executive Function & The Organized Student; Supporting Your Child’s Learning Differences; Elementary School: The Official Story, An Administrator Panel; Middle School: The Mayhem Years, Parent Perspectives; High School: The Real Story According to Teens; The Culture of PreSchool: Parent Perspectives, and many more.
In addition, an Exhibit Hall will highlight a sampling of NYC’s finest educational enrichment programs, schools, education technology and talent development resources.
“Finally, one day and one place to get a to-do list of everything we parents need to find great New York City schools, enrichment and talent development resources for our kids, pre-k to high school,” says PALNYC co-founder AngeliqueLeDoux.
