Bobbi Kristina’s funeral plans have been finalized and a number of interesting and unusual new details have emerged. Two memorials will be held in different states, according to Extra TV on July 28. The first memorial will be held Saturday in Atlanta where most of Bobbi Kristina’s personal friends and many relatives from the Brown side of her family live. Another memorial will be held in New Jersey, which will allow Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, Cissy Houston whose health does not permit her to travel, to say her final goodbye.
As might be expected, due to their long-standing family feud, the Browns and the Houstons disagree on the type of funeral they feel Bobby Kristina should have. An article on July 28 in Hollywood Life states that the Houstons want a party-themed memorial in honor of the prom Bobbi Kristina never attended, and the Sweet 16 party she never had. Bobby Brown’s side of the family think a funeral with a party-like atmosphere is disrespectful. But the Houstons insist on a gala ceremony which they are calling a “Sweet 16 Celebration of Life.” It will be interesting to see which family’s wishes will prevail. There are also disagreements among the Brown and Houston families regarding who can and cannot attend. According to CeleBuzz.com on July 29, Pat Houston has a list of celebrity guests whose names she is keeping a closely guarded secret. She has requested that these elite guests rsvp within 24 hours.
Tyler Perry, a longtime friend of the family, is assisting Pat Houston, the wife of Whitney Houston’s half-brother Gary, with the funeral plans. He has his hands full trying to maintain peace between the two feuding families. Tyler has reportedly offered to “take care of everything” related to the funeral, which many assume to mean that he will foot the entire funeral bill. In addition, Tyler will allow Bobbi Kristina’s family to use his private plane to transport her body to the burial site in New Jersey where a second memorial ceremony will take place. Some of Whitney Houston’s former bodyguards have flown to Altanta to help transport the body.
One thing both sides of the family seem to agree on is that Bobbi Kristina’s funeral will not be broadcast or live-streamed as Whitney Houston’s funeral was three years ago. A source close to the family says they don’t want to make this tragedy more of a spectacle than it has already become.
The first memorial for Bobbi Kristina will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Theoriginal date for this service was July 30, which ironically was the date cited on the fake Bobbi Kristina funeral video that made the rounds on the the Internet last week. According to Us magazine on July 29, the date was rescheduled to Aug. 1, in order to accommodate certain family members who otherwise would not have been able to attend. Celebuzz.com reports that a second memorial service is scheduled to be held on Monday, Aug 3, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark NJ. Afterward, Bobbi Kristina will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield NJ where Whitney Houston and her father John Russell Houston are buried. News vans have already started to gather at the heavily guarded scene as of yesterday.
