With social media connecting directly with people these days there are so many opportunities for creative folks who wish to build their film careers. Bringing the right people around a project is key to creating a successful production. From financiers to distribution, line producers, directors and production team members — it seems a huge, almost overwhelming endeavor to someone just getting started.
But, everyday new people with a dream step into the film industry with aspirations of leaving their mark — making a lasting impression on the world through story in film. From documentaries, which potentially bring awareness, knowledge and experience, to fictional feature films, that take us to another place in time and tell us a story that we can deeply relate to through a roller coaster of emotion.
There is certainly not a shortage of folks who are willing to share their expertise, and some of the most entertaining and inspirational events that create opportunities to connect are film festivals. These festivals offer seminars, open forum programs, film showings, awards, not to mention the chance to just hang out in the lobby and talk (maybe even pitch an idea) with people who are there to share their experience.
Take a moment to look at the enormous list of festivals and websites available not only in Los Angeles, but also around the United States and the world. Film festivals generate inspiration, motivation and can light a fire under a creative soul. Attendance and being active in the event can give the needed energy to complete a production, finish that script, or start the production company you always wanted to start. Nothing can stop you but yourself. So, take the next steps, attend a film festival this season and bring your dream to life!
