In addition to great shoes, jackets, and dresses, fall fashion week also gives us a glimpse of upcoming beauty trends. Elie Maalouf, a celebrity makeup artist, has had his work grace the runways and top fashion magazines alike. Elie shared some beauty trends we should be on the lookout for during the upcoming fashion week.
After a couple of seasons touting the natural look, full-bodied colors are making their return. This year, we should expect bold lips. Different shades of red lips will probably be making their way down the runway and for more daring shows, look for darker, sexy shades (Elie’s hoping to see blue). Eyes will be getting even smokier and incorporating midnight blue, think rock n’ roll. Strong gold eyes will also make an appearance.
Makeup junkies who are looking for the best shows to spot new beauty trends should check out St. Laurent for an edgy look that draws influences from California. Marc Jacobs is your best bet for the bold lips everyone’s buzzing about as well as the classic smokey eye.
To New Yorkers who want to incorporate runway looks into their every day life, Elie says it’s more about how an individual feels. “Taking your own style and comfort into consideration, if you wear your makeup with confidence, it’s going to make you shine. If you’re uncomfortable with a beauty choice, it will show on your face.” He also recommends going bold with just one feature at a time. “If a blue bold lip works for you pare it with classic mascara and natural looking skin.” If you’re not quite ready for the blue lips, using metallic accents on your eyes is a great way to incorporate runway beauty into your personal style. Elie recommends mixing gold and silver by applying gold dramatically on the upper eyelid and using a light silver to line the bottom.
Elie was also kind enough to share some must haves for your makeup kit to pull off these fall trends. “YSL Forever Youth Liberator is a favorite among my celebrity clients because it’s a serum and foundation mix. While it’s a little expensive, it will heal your skin and make your it glow beautifully at the same time. Armani’s liquid Eye Tint in ‘Gold Ashes’ is the perfect product to help you achieve the gold accents that you’ll see on the runway. Sisley’s ‘So Intense’ Mascara will give you the bold timeless lashes that women covet and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are bold and moisturizing for your lips.”
