Models exhibit dominance in the viewer’s vision in any and everything from ads on a billboard, magazines, fashion shows and television. How often do we see that model as that respected figure of verbal motion, emotion and thoughts? Introducing fashion model newbie Gina Hernandez, the New York native of Dominican descent was a tomboy oblivious to modeling at the time. Fast forward to the present now a model, she is a radiating sight to behold standing at 5″11 kissed with gorgeous raven features! In this question and answer session Ms. Hernandez articulates on her continuing come up as model, fashion, beauty regime and more!
Growing up did you know you had an exceptional physical presence?
Gina: Not at all. I wasn’t really a girly girl and was overweight. Worrying about hair and nails was definitely not at the top of the list. In recent years things have changed since I feel I am growing into myself.
How did you get into modeling?
Gina: I started out of curiosity. I brought a camera and vintage dress and just took shots. I loved the feeling and more so the product. After that it became fashion shows and different photo opportunities that come my way.
Do you have the fashion flair that matches your pursuit in this industry?
Gina: I don’t know if you would call it flair. I would say I wear how I feel for the day. I can wear heels and a cute dress one day and the next be in yoga pants and sneakers. Colors-I like vibrant things that immediately catch the eye, the texture of fabric doesn’t matter. I went to Fashion Industries High School for fashion design, wanted to be a designer at one point.
What are some of the staples in your everyday beauty/style regime?
Gina: The most important to me is skin care. I use a Clinique moisturizer after I wash my face in the morning. Best thing ever! Aside from that I don’t really keep a list of things for that. Simplicity is the key.
Have you overcame any advertises while pursuing modeling? As a model on the come up can you give advice to others pursing this field?
Gina: I can’t say I have- yet… I know sooner or later it may or may not happen. I wouldn’t let that affect me or my love for modeling. To a model on the come up, you’re going to get a million no’s but there will be a yes. Also confidence is the key. You can’t go wrong if you follow that!
What have been the most memorable experiences you had to date working as a model?
Gina: I can say the most memorable would be walking down the runway for an event in Miami called Wine Women and Shoes. It was an unbelievable experience. I would definitely like to do more runways. Let’s see what happens.
You’re an extremely talented artist as well! How do you feel art and fashion are connected?
Gina: Thank you! I just think all things have a beauty to them. Art and fashion are the same in the sense of creating and being able to mold whatever you want the product to be. No rules! I love it!
