Today’s season five premiere episode of “Farmhouse Rules,” was titled, “Boxcar Beauties,” starring Nancy Fuller. She was born and raised a farm girl from Upstate New York, and she inherited a lasting love for serving and eating good fresh food. The recipes she makes are called rules that were handed down for generations of her family and filled with the foods indigenous to the area. Nancy has been a chef and caterer for over twenty-six years and as a loving mother of six and grandmother of thirteen, she is still madly in love with her ex-city boy hubby, David.
Nancy’s whole family is visiting and she has decided to show them where their food actually comes from. She has them help her tractor-plant seeds and show them how to grow fruits and vegetables. As they continued to help in the field, she went to her kitchen to start preparing a delicious farm-fresh meal for them. She is making Fresh Vegetable Lasagna with Spinach and Zucchini, Chicken Taco Pacos, Crinkle Cut Carrots and Zesty Herb Dip and for dessert, chocolaty Creepy Critter Bars. She started making her kid-friendly food by removing chicken from the bones for her Chicken Taco Pacos. They looked delicious as she was making them, it is a good thing the kids are still outside, or they would be begging for them to be done. When Nancy tasted her creations, her expression told it all. When she brought them outside for them to eat; they just loved them. Once they finished the Taco Pacos, she had a big surprise for them and took them to the barn to feast their eyes on their own soapbox derby cars for them to decorate and then ride in.
Two of her granddaughters came into the kitchen to help her make the Creep Critter Bars and just like a grandmother; she gave them each a spoon to lick after the chocolate was put into the baking pan. When the girls went back outside, she started the lasagna using the fresh vegetables and two of the boys came in to help layer the lasagna. She then gave the boys some gummy worms, spiders and creepy crawly things to decorate the Creepy Critter Bars.
When the meal was over, the kids brought their newly decorated soap box cars out to show GG and Papa David. Then the race was on, as the children took turns racing down the lovely hill on this episode of “Farmhouse Rules.”
