A great day of seasonal family fun is in store for those Clevelanders who make a trip to Pigeon Roost Farm in Hebron, Ohio to attend their annual Pumpkinfest being held daily from September 12 through November 1. Celebrating their 35th year of family farm fun, Pigeon Roost Farm has a vide variety of Fall season activities that will appeal to all ages.
The Farm’s Great Pumpkin Fun Center features giant gerbil wheels, a 3-acre corn maze, Rooster Racers, Turkey Tuber Slides, a spooky straw tunnel, the Conestoga Corn Wagon, duck races, the Creepy Teepee Tunnel, a Twisty Snake Seesaw and a ride on the Pumpkin Express train and so much more that the whole family will delight in. New this year is an expanded Enchanted Forest, a tree fort with a slide and a climbing wall, a sandbox with diggers, a tire play area, a new Chicken Condo and a new Bunnyville.
An expanded Toddler Town provides fun and safe activities for children under the age of 3. There is also a Soybean Maze for the younger children that allows kids to have fun making their way through the maze but still be in view of their parents.
Impressive displays of pumpkins are everywhere and you can choose you own pumpkin for purchase that you can take home (Prices are 39 cents per pound) with choices of pumpkins ranging in size from giants weighing hundreds of pounds to mini pumpkins. Also available for purchase are items like Indian corn, straw bales, corn stalks, hardshell birdhouse gourds (ready to hang), apple gourds and 12 varieties of heritage squash including butternut, spaghetti and acorn.
Among some of the animals that you can meet and greet and pet are a donkey and her baby, goats and their kids, geese, ducks, chickens, rabbits, turkeys and sheep. And weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) bring special activities to the Farm for visitors including tractor-pulled wagon rides, face painting and demonstrations from Central Ohio craftspeople.
Food available for purchase include grilled brats, hamburgers, hot dogs and freshly popped kettle korn and other tasty items from The Grill Family of restaurants. Hours for the Pigeon Roost Farm Pumpkinfest are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily with the last admittance to the Great Pumpkin Center at 6 p.m.
Admission to the Pumpkinfest (market area and country stores) is free but there is a $7 fee (ages 2 and up) for admission to the Great Pumpkin Center (includes all activities, visiting the animals and the corn maze). There is a $3 fee for the wagon rides. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
