Some Oklahomans decorate only the exterior of their homes for Thanksgiving. In Senior Communities one finds demurely placed on front doors harvest autumn leaf wreathes to signify participation. Others who have children at home or who are expecting family to visit go “hog wild” decorating the inside and exterior. These Thanksgiving enthusiasts put special Thanksgiving table cloths, dining-ware, table runners and centerpieces out in the dining room to make the feasting aspect extraordinary.
There are families who insist upon the traditional Pilgrim and Turkey decorations. While others stick with the harvest autumn theme. Oklahomans can be artistic with their Thanksgiving decorations; some create indoor and outdoor masterpieces. It is amazing how decorative gourds and pumpkins can be!

For most Oklahomans Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday. Thanksgiving is about being with family and friends while remembering those who have gone before, made it possible for the current generations to be born.
