Bethesda’s Fallout 4 is slated to be one of the biggest releases for 2015, and fans are growing curious about the title’s future downloadable content and how it will be distributed. Thanks to the wonderful world of social media, fans are now able to connect and ask questions with folks working on games. Bethesda’s Pete Hines was asked on Sept. 27 via Twitter whether or not Fallout 4 DLC will be exclusive or a timed-exclusive release to any one platform. If you were also wondering about this, well, we have the answer for you.
As you may recall, Microsoft previously had The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim downloadable content as a timed-exclusive release for the Xbox 360. At E3 2015 this year, Microsoft announced that Fallout 4 mods will be supported on Xbox One, but the bigger new was that those who purchase Fallout 4 for Xbox One would also get Fallout 3 for free. In terms of exclusive content, it would seem that is the extent in which Bethesda is willing to go when it comes to Fallout 4.
When asked on Twitter when Fallout 4 downloadable content will come to Xbox One/PS4 first of will everything release at the same time, Pete Hines disclosed that the Bethesda isn’t doing a DLC exclusive with any company. Exclusive content can play a vital role in marketing and influence the purchase decision of the hardcore fan, so now the only defining factor will be how the title performance on each platform. A Season Pass has already been announced for Fallout 4 – though its contents remain a mystery.
Fallout 4 shall release on Nov. 10 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
