Back-to-school means autumn is right around the corner. How should you color your hair during the cooler weather? Redken Celebrity Colorist Tracey Cunningham has dished on a few hot hair trends in the following 2015 fall hair color preview, which she has used on her own celebrity clientele.
Marsala Pantone 18-1438 is the Pantone Color of the Year 2015. Since wine truly goes with everything, be prepared for a year of fashion, hair and beauty trends greatly influenced by Marsala, including fall hair color. This hearty, earthy, and stylish tone is workable into all of the trends Tracey Cunningham has outlined in the 2015 fall hair color preview.
Low-maintenance hair color
Low-maintenance hair color has been one of the most popular beauty trends of late. While the salon services could be costly, techniques such as balayage and somber limit the amount of visits because they don’t require touch-ups every 6-8 weeks.
Balayage is a hair color technique only to be done by experienced licensed professionals that have practiced the hand-painted hair color effect for a “rooty,” natural look. Sombré delivers a seamless, yet gradual gradation of hair color from the scalp to ends, unlike ombré, which is dark on top and abruptly changes to much lighter ends.
According to Tracey Cunningham, “Low-maintenance color has been a popular trend recently and has now been expanded with sombré, a much more subtle and blended take on ombre. Sombré is a softer, more wearable look that is flatting on everyone, even those with darker hair like Jessica Biel.” The celebrity colorist recommends Redken’s NEW Chromatics Mocha shades that “create a rich base color, which can be toned and refreshed with the NEW Shades EQ Gloss natural warm shades like Milk Tea and Cream Soda.”
Says Tracey; “The popularity of the spring/summer babylights trend has gained momentum, especially with brunette clients that realize highlights are not just for blondes. Natural, untouched hair is always lighter around the hairline, which is essentially the Babylights technique.” Cunningham added, “Clients with darker hair color like Lily Aldridge can easily transition their summer-highlighted hair to something more natural that complements fall colors,” such as the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year, marsala.
Emma Stone red
Tracey Cunningham suggests adding soft red tones like Emma Stone or this year’s hottest hair color, marsala, using Redken Shades EQ. “To create the blonde dimension while toning and refreshing Emma’s hair, Redken Shades EQ is my go-to for creating this universally flattering look.” It is a high shine color, which could be found at Redken salons.
