As a big fan of Fairmont Kea Lani’s Willow Stream Spa on Maui it came as little surprise to lean today, July 27, that the facility was recognized by Travel+Leisure readers as the top in Hawaii. Like the hotel itself, the spa is simply heavenly with its talented therapists whose techniques thrill the senses. The stunning spa, which opened was reimagined from the former facility with a $9 million upgrade and opened in 2014, has gorgeous treatment rooms where technicians work their magic using Maui-sourced oils and creams combined with ancient Hawaiian techniques. Whenever the spa snob (moi) stays at the Kea Lani with husband Richard we book a couple massages outdoors by the water, there is little like being rubbed in the fresh sea air listening to the hypnotic sounds of the surf. We’ve also sampled the facials and the signature Nalu Suite which fitted with a state-of-the art wave massage table, the Wailele (Waterfall) and Vichy Shower treatments with infrared technology, full sensory experience showers inspired by Maui rain, steam and sauna, and a soothing pālolo (mud) bar.
Debatably he most romantic island in the Hawaiian archipelago, Maui caters to couples seeking sensuous and more esoteric types who bask in its magical aura. The sweet 9,000 pamper-filled square-foot spa at the Kea Lani keeps the mood flowing with menu of salubrious options designed to restore your spirit and balance the body. You can have massages indoors or by the sea in a blue cabana down by the ocean.
Salubrious spa services are created to:
- Relieve–provide a simple escape from everyday pressures. They are a great pick-me-up, can facilitate relaxation and may involve skin rehydration.
- Restore–helping you recover from things like stress, travel, overindulgence or your hectic lifestyle. They are rebalancing in nature, and some even provide you with more radiant skin.
- Results–ore intense and involve processes like detoxification, cleansing or anti-aging. They are therapeutic, and many of them include the use of cutting-edge technology.
You can also treat yourself to day of head to toe pampering starting with a Kerstin Florin Advanced Results facial (80 minutes for $230), or any other of the fabulous offerings. Then take eucalyptus bath for $90 followed by a foot massage for $155. An even better idea is to book a package like the Ocean Odyssey that comes with a caviar facial and body treatment for $455.
There’s a great-sounding Under Pressure package that includes personal training, a hydrotherapy bath and a massage for $400. Whatever you choose, you will thank us for the recommendation, the staff here, like many of Maui’s spas, is top notch.
