Explore Curious Closet consignment in Lexington and discover an amazing selection of women’s career, casual and special occasion apparel, designer handbags, shoes and jewelry. Located at 930 North Lake Drive (just off Route 378 between Food Lion and Stein Mart), Curious Closet appears to be little more than a hole in the wall. Surprisingly, it’s much larger than it appears and well worth visiting. Some merchandise is new; most is gently used and for sale on consignment. The atmosphere is that of a boutique, not that of a thrift store.
When you enter, you will be greeted by racks of dresses, maxi dresses, two-piece jacket and skirt sets and special occasion dresses on the right, circular racks of blouses, knit tops and shorts in the center, glass cases of absolutely beautiful handbags, tables filled with stylish fashion jewelry and shoes arranged much like those in a shoe store. Everything is clean, pressed, and arranged by style and size. There are plenty of familiar brand names, including Jones New York, Rafaella, Ralph Lauren, Bill Blass, Lauren Conrad and Land’s End. Prices may seem a bit on the high side, but are competitive with other mid-range consignment shops in greater Columbia.
Especially impressive is the selection of shoes and handbags. Curious Closet has wedges, platform pumps, espadrilles, flats and comfort sandals in every conceivable color and style, all in like-new or gently used condition. The handbags are gorgeous, offering shoppers a rainbow selection of vibrant, on-trend colors and styles. There are many well-known brands, including Anne Klein, Tignanello, Stone Mountain and Kenneth Cole Reaction.
Toward the back of the shop there is a rack of sale priced apparel with many wear-now pieces and some that will transition nicely into fall. Among the pieces that stood out were two cotton sweaters from the LOFT and a lovely sheer open-front jacket done in rich jewel tones. Capris, cotton blend slacks, some dresses and many layering camis were also sale priced.
