Examiner: Hello Teresa, thank you for allowing us to have this Exclusive Interview with you. Your career has really taken off this year, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what 2016 has in store for you. As you look back on this year, what was your most memorable moment in 2015?
Teresa Glam: 2015 was a crazy year! Aside from getting married and having my son Epic, professionally I’d have to say things moved extremely fast as well! One of my favorite moments had to be filming my new music video “My Ninja Warrior”… I was able to get my whole family involved in the video. It was very special to me being able to show them some of the things I get do every day and bring them into a small part of my world. Sometimes it’s hard for my family and friends to relate to what I do.
E: What are your goals heading into 2016?
TG: This year I’d like to create and write some new music straight from my heart. I love the stuff I’ve put out, but I’d like to dig a little deeper into the soul this time around. I’d also like to get involved in some new shows here on the Vegas strip and start taking classes more frequently. There’s always more to learn! I’d also like to see myself on more magazine covers in the future and I’m still waiting on that Billboard! I plan on gigging around the world more with my Insomniac family and picking up a new specialty act. I’m excited to see where 2016 takes me and my family!
E: Let’s go back to the beginning of your modeling career… what, or who, inspired you to start modeling?
TG: Wow, let’s not give away my age [laughs]. But the beginning seems like forever ago. I just remember how powerful I felt in front of the camera, like for once the whole world was listening…. because I had something to say. That high is very addicting and I never looked back.
E: How would you describe your “look”? And, what type of modeling are you most interested in?
TG: My look is always changing depending on what mood I’m in that day, month, or year. I guess if I was forced to stereotype my style, Alternative Modeling would be the category I’d most fall into. I’ll never be 5’9 and 100 lbs, but who knows… someday girls who fit my body type might walk the runway.
E: What are some challenges you’ve faced as a model?
TG: The normal’s I’m sure every model faces. You’re too much of this or not enough that. I always say you’ll never please everyone so just keep moving forward and someday someone will notice the spark in you. When it’s your time, it will happen!
E: If you could give one piece of advice to anyone hoping to enter the modeling industry, what would it be?
TG: Don’t give up on yourself. If you know your worth, eventually the world will know it too! Just be 100% yourself… there’s already plenty someone else’s out there who aren’t.
E: You’re also very well known for appearing on reality television shows like Ink Master and America’s Got Talent. What do you remember most about those experiences?
TG: With every show, big or small, it’s never the moments filming that you remember… it’s the cast and the behind-the-scene moments that stay with you. I remember the laughs between me and the other cast members and the little things that never made it on camera.
E: Okay, let’s shift gears… you are also pursuing a singing career. Your latest song and video entitled “My Ninja Warrior” is receiving a lot of attention nationwide. Congrats… Who came up with the concept behind the song and the video? Give us some background on everyone who was involved with this project.
TG: My manager Ace Micheals and AVALON Entertainment wrote the music, directed and produced the video. I always write my own lyrics to all my songs and the video concept was a collaboration of us two. I did the costuming while that fabulous hair and make-up was done by The Dream House Salon owner, Sarah Yoseloff. Big thank you to my husband Sloan Willden who played the fearless ninja and my mother Theresa Caple who played the villain. Also, a big thank you to my friend Saturn Reyes who played the captured slave and Big Mack. Like I said previously, I wanted to bring my family into my world and this was my chance to show them a bit of what I do every day.
E: If you had to decide between modeling, music, or acting, which one would you choose?
TG: Music, because it is the source and the power behind everything else.
E: Last but not least, you are an accomplished dancer. Tell us a little about your shows in Vegas, such as LAX Nightclub.
TG: Again, not to give away my age, but if you can name a nightclub here in Vegas, at some point I probably danced in it! I’ve also done a handful of reviews and live band shows (mostly burlesque) in Vegas and around the world. My current residency is at LAX Nightclub, Las Vegas. I work for a production company JACS IE who is the provider of LAX’s wonderful dancers and outrageously beautiful costuming! JACS IE is a wonderful company to work for. Like I said, it’s never the place itself that makes what I do so wonderful, but the cast I get to do it with. It’s the time we spend on our breaks sharing stories and laughing together in the green room that remains in your heart forever. As glorious as the moments on stage are, years from now when I retire, it’s going to be their faces and their stories that I remember most!
E: You have recently become a wife and mother… how do you balance your career with your social life?
TG: It’s been a challenge… my son Epic is now 9 months and I’m starting to get the hang of it finally. It is exactly as you said: a balancing act! Making sure I’m not gone too many days of the month traveling or that I spend my days with my family and my nights on the stage. A perfect balance!
E: Thanks a million for this wonderful interview. Any last words?
TG: Thank you for letting others into my world a little and I hope to inspire and tell anyone reading this to keep moving forward. Yes, it’s possible to have it all!
