As Christians prepare to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, they should remember the Christian principles in that document and how our God-given rights are gradually being taken away.
Because the writers and signers of the Declaration of Independence had a strong belief in God and His principles found in the Bible, they boldly declared that” We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Notice that our founding fathers said that we were given unalienable rights by our Creator, Who is the God of the Bible. This meant that since God gave them to us, then only God was supposed to be able to take them away from us.
Our fathers were terrified by the prospect of a tyrannical government taking away our rights of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and the right to own weapons so we could be able to defend ourselves. As a result of their fears, they wrote these rights into the first amendments to our nation’s Constitution.
For many years Americans have had those rights because godly men used God’s principles of living and leadership as the governing principles for many levels of government in our nation.
However, in sharp contrast to the great godly principles of our founding fathers, many modern politicians seem to have been seduced by the demonic deceptions that say that if they removed the influence of God’s principles of leadership and our Christian heritage as the foundations for our government and society; then they could replace them with the socialist idea that the people would only have the rights that the government will give to them.
We have seen that strategy at work as progressive minded politicians and judges have been using legislation, court rulings, and regulations to gradually take away the rights that our founders said that God gave to the American people.
For years there have been some concerned Christians that have been seeing those things happening and so they are using their talents in the political, legal, educational, and Christian ministry fields to fight the erosion of our precious freedoms and religious liberties. Our nation needs many more Christian warriors who will help them by using their talents and resources in the fight to save our precious freedoms, our Christian heritage, our Christian values and lifestyle so that America will once again become a beacon of freedom in a world filled with the darkness of many kinds of political, economic, and demonic tyrannies!
