Located in the heart of Ohio’s Amish country, the Queen Anne architectural style Victorian mansion is currently home to the Holmes County Historical Society. Completed in 1902 by Cleveland steel industrialist L.H. Brighten (He had 56 patents at the time of his death), the 28-room mansion was home to Brightman and his wife and 8 of their 12 children for only 4 years.
Among some of the features of this 4-floor mansion are hand-decorated ceilings, parquet floors, a sycamore fireplace with tiles from England and in the reception hall, a European-made white oak grand staircase with 78 hand-turned spindles and acorns. The Victorian House Museum has been featured on HGTV’s’ “Victorian America” and in “Victorian Homes” magazine.
